Spring is finally here!

Well it has been a while since I have done an entry. I have tried several times and drawn a blank. I have been inspired by reading my friend's e-mails on her life with 3 kids under the age of 6, 2 being twins. As mothers, wives, and entrepreneurs we sometimes walk through the day like a zombie but somehow we are still able to feed and water the kids, get them to school, clean the house, pay the bills, fill the fridge, answer e-mails, get to sports and still be alive at the end of the day. And I wonder why after 2 sips of wine I am ready for bed!

We can all learn from our kids and there innocence. My daughter loves everyone and wants everyone to love her. She has a schoolmate in school who is not always the nicest to her, so I have been told, but she still continues to try to reach for their freindship . I guess she is being the bigger person. It seems to be that way in business these days. I'm pretty easy going and like to work with other small business'(Little chefs, Pottery Parties in the Hills, Joppa -fair trade coffee) in events and cross promotion. But I really need to say that I'm noticing some business have lost there focus. What do they do? What are they selling? Furniture stores with clothes? Are you a photographer , estitician/hairdresser, and retail shop!? Has everyone let the big "R" word go to there head? Focus people, FOCUS. This is the best time for small business to get out there, but be fare. There is room for everyone, play fare and remember what you are about, don't try to suck every product and service because you are scared. Work together! Perhaps suggest somewhere or someone where they could go for another service or product that is local that maybe you should not take on. I support local competitors and small business. Work as a community and it will benefit everyone. When a business stands alone it is nice, but when there are options and variety in services it is great. It builds a community. Remember why you started your business and what is important to you. What goes around comes around. Be good, be fare and share the success. Be the bigger person!
