Winter Driving!

I wanted snow, I got it! I thought today was my last day to live. I was so terrified this morning driving to work in my husbands sport car. I had to pull over at a plaza and wait for him to come and get me. Sorry for anyone driving behind me this morning. So it will be the last time I do that on a snowy day!

I'm feeling very content today, even though my poor little Noinkee is not feeling well with ear and eye infection. I'm looking forward to the summer! My business is great because I can still do what I love and be with my family. We put up the pool yesterday and bought a salt water pump. Yeah no chemicals!

Lina Beans

These little guys are so cute and handmade by Caroline at http://www.linalounge.biz/ The ones in the picture are my daughters, made from her clothes that don't fit anymore. How amazing is that! Even better they are only $15 (before tax). I don't have them posted on the Noinkee's site www.shopnoinkees.com because all are one of a kind and they sell so quickly. So you'll have to come to the showroom to shop or contact Caroline to have your own special little lina bean made.

" A person is a person no matter how big or small!" Quote from Horton hears a Who! I recently encountered a business man who felt his business was too "classy" for my buyers as he basically put it. Someone made a comment after meeting me that they were surprised to find out how down to earth and friendly I was. They thought with the merchandise I carried I would be a "high maintenance B-I-T-C-H" To me this is crazy. I just love good quality and unique pieces that have a story. It's funny that this this business man felt my pricing and merchandise did not reflect "high end". It takes all kinds but if I don't have to associate myself and expose my customers to such ignorance, I'd rather not.

The search will continue for the perfect little store front. In the meantime my showroom and events will be my thing. I believe everything happens for a reason and Karma will bite him in the ass!

I had a great Open House on June 12th- Mini Mani night with Little Chefs healthy recipes, and Epicure selections with amazing barbecue rubs and sauces. The next one will be fun too. July 19th 11am-4pm Family Fun! Paint ceramics with Pottery Parties in the Hills, Epicure Selections, Jumpy castle for kids, Promotions and Giveaways with Noinkee's.

Spring is finally here!

Well it has been a while since I have done an entry. I have tried several times and drawn a blank. I have been inspired by reading my friend's e-mails on her life with 3 kids under the age of 6, 2 being twins. As mothers, wives, and entrepreneurs we sometimes walk through the day like a zombie but somehow we are still able to feed and water the kids, get them to school, clean the house, pay the bills, fill the fridge, answer e-mails, get to sports and still be alive at the end of the day. And I wonder why after 2 sips of wine I am ready for bed!

We can all learn from our kids and there innocence. My daughter loves everyone and wants everyone to love her. She has a schoolmate in school who is not always the nicest to her, so I have been told, but she still continues to try to reach for their freindship . I guess she is being the bigger person. It seems to be that way in business these days. I'm pretty easy going and like to work with other small business'(Little chefs, Pottery Parties in the Hills, Joppa -fair trade coffee) in events and cross promotion. But I really need to say that I'm noticing some business have lost there focus. What do they do? What are they selling? Furniture stores with clothes? Are you a photographer , estitician/hairdresser, and retail shop!? Has everyone let the big "R" word go to there head? Focus people, FOCUS. This is the best time for small business to get out there, but be fare. There is room for everyone, play fare and remember what you are about, don't try to suck every product and service because you are scared. Work together! Perhaps suggest somewhere or someone where they could go for another service or product that is local that maybe you should not take on. I support local competitors and small business. Work as a community and it will benefit everyone. When a business stands alone it is nice, but when there are options and variety in services it is great. It builds a community. Remember why you started your business and what is important to you. What goes around comes around. Be good, be fare and share the success. Be the bigger person!
